In response to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's cynical resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib, IfNotNow National Spokesperson Eva Borgwardt released the following statement:

“We can all see right through Marjorie Taylor Greene’s hateful, islamophobic stunt. She’s one of the loudest antisemites in the Republican party: a conspiracy theorist who blamed wildfires on ‘Jewish space lasers’ and compared COVID requirements to the Holocaust is the farthest thing from an authority on Jewish safety. Marjorie Taylor Greene should be able to recognize an insurrection after supporting one — she backed the violent mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6 as part of Trump’s campaign to overturn the election, and is now absurdly comparing it to a peaceful protest led by rabbis.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene and the Republican party that supports this resolution don’t care about Palestianians or Jews, antisemitism or islamophobia. They care about holding on to power, whether it’s for the right-wing autocracy in Israel or holding on to their House majority in Congress. They want to divide us and turn us against each other — our solidarity is a threat to them. We aren’t backing down.

“Our Jewish community will continue to fight alongside Congresswoman Tlaib and every person of conscience who has called for de-escalation, ceasefire, and the release of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas. We will continue to demand an end to the United States’ complicity in the brutal slaughter of thousands of people, including children and in the underlying conditions that led to this nightmare. We will continue to reject the lie that Jewish or Israeli safety depends on Palestinian suffering and we will continue fighting for a future where all of us are safe and free.”
