In response to the Biden administration's decision to enact sanctions on violent Israeli settlers in the West Bank, IfNotNow national spokesperson Eva Borgwardt released the following statement:

“This week’s executive order sanctioning Israeli settlers in the West Bank and their supporters, if properly implemented, has the potential to put meaningful action behind its stated commitment to stopping settler violence. It also lays the groundwork for a sanctions system that could target many of the institutions and individuals responsible for the dispossession and suffering of Palestinians.

But addressing settler violence is not nearly enough. The greatest source of violence against Palestinian civilians is the Israeli military, whose devastating assault on Gaza continues to be supported — financially and diplomatically — by the United States.  President Biden needs to push for an immediate ceasefire and to restore funding to UNRWA, but instead, he continues to push for billions of dollars in unconditional weapons funding."
