In response to reports that Israel and Hamas are nearing a deal for a temporary ceasefire and partial hostage exchange, IfNotNow national spokesperson Eva Borgwardt released the following statement:

“If the reports of a five-day ceasefire are accurate, it would be a step toward stopping the indiscriminate bombing of Palestinian civilians, releasing hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons, and beginning the long road to peace. We will keep fighting for a permanent ceasefire, for the release of the remaining hostages, for the rebuilding Gaza and for the millions of Palestinians displaced to return to their homes, an end to occupation, apartheid, and siege, and for freedom and dignity for all Israelis and Palestinians.”
